To build a good Berimbau, we need a flexible piece of wood. A stick wich will not break by the pressure. A Berimbau has several parts. Via the link Berimbau information, you will find more information about this subject. Before we setup de Berimbau, we have to be sure that we have the following parts:

A stick made of Beriba wood.

On one side there has to be a little leather for the wire.

A steel wire (most of the time made of wire inside of a car tire)

A pumpkin

Step 1 Get your berimbau stuff together

Take the beriba stick and put the steel wire on it. Hold the stick on the grond, with the leather upside. Please be aware of the undergrand. It must not be slippery but rough.

Step 2 Putting the steel wire on the berimbau

Hold on the steel wire en put it on top of the leather.

Step 3 bent the berimbau stick

Keep the Berimbau on the ground and use your knee to bent the stick. The best way to do it, is in the middle of the stick.

Step 4

Now put pressure on the stick with your knee, while the stick will bent.

Step 5

Put the wire around the stick with your left hand, while you keep pressure on the stick with your right hand and your knee.

Step 6

Putting the wire around the stick will go easier, when you move your right hand down, each time you have put the wire around with your left hand. However, keep on pressure!

Step 7

Put the wire around the stick with your left hand and move your right hand down. Do this until you reach the nylon wire at the and of the steel wire.

Step 8

Keep your right hand on the wire and try to tighten the nylon wire. The Berimbau must look like a bow now.

Step 9

Turn the stick around. Get the pumpkin and put it on the stick. Most of the times they put the pumpkin as far as the width of their hand.

Step 10

The berimbau is ready to use. Now you can play on it. Capoeira can begin!
